The enlarged All Progressives Congress, APC party in Burutu Local Government Area has endorsed His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for 2027 presidential election, just as they also endorsed His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, for governorship in 2027.

Rising from a well-attended meeting held in the country home of Elder Godsday Orubebe in Ogbobagbene, Burutu LGA today, May, 18, 2025, the large crowd of recent decampees from the PDP and old members of the APC from the two Burutu Constituencies, moved and adopted a motion for the endorsement of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and His Excellency, Rt Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori as return unopposed in the forthcoming 2027 election.

The motion which was moved by Barr. B.D. Ekrese and seconded by Mr. Ignatius Kiakia received a unanimous affirmation from the over five thousand blended APC members from the eleven wards of Burutu Local Government Area.

Also, the occasion witnessed a unanimous endorsement of Elder Godsday Orubebe as the overall leader of the party in the Local Government Area.

Prominent Ijaw politicians from both divides who collapsed their political differences and unite under APC include: the Burutu Local Government Council Chairman, Hon. Julius Take me, former Commissioner, Hon. Bradruce Angozie, Chief J. T. Government, Principal Secretary to Governor Oborevwori, Barr. Mrs. Lyna Ochulor, APC chairman in Burutu, Chief Seikemeingha Moni, Hon. Commissioner, Godknows Angele, Hon. Member representing Constituency I, Hon. Tony Alapala, member representing Burutu Constituency 2, Hon. Oloye Pereotu amongst others.

Earlier, while declaring the meeting open, APC leader in Burutu and former Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Elder Godsday Orubebe, expressed great joy stating that his job has been made easier with the APC and PDP collapsing into one political party in the area.

He said: “Today is one of my happiest days. Before this time when election is coming, I will be calculating. I’d say, Bradruce is there, J. T. Government is there, how are we going to maneuver them. But today, at least all the political leaders in the main political parties have come together to work together.

“So, it is going to be seamless, it’s going to be progressive, and then we are going to produce the best for our President and our governor. There is no old APC and there is no new APC. We are all APC. Let us be loyal to the system. We have the President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, we have our governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, we have our Local Government Council chairman, we have the party chairman and other leaders. Let us connectively work together. Please, let us promote one another. Stand for one another. That is the road to the Cannan land.

“If we are united, there is nothing we are going to look for from the State that we cannot get. I told the governor a few things he is going to do for the Ijaw people between now and 2031 because his second tenure is already there for him. Unity is the key word. Let us be united, let us work together.

“You can see, the people are so excited that they have adopted President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Gov. Sheriff Oborevwori for 2027. That is the stand of the APC in Burutu Local Government. All the leaders have come together, we are excited and we are moving forward”, Orubebe stated.

On what the Ijaw people of Burutu would expect from the new political union, Orubebe stated that should expect unity and progress that will accrue from the federal and the State level, adding that there would be a lot of developmental activities in Burutu area.

Orubebe specifically pointed to the Ohoro-Bomadi road which the administration of His Excellency, Rt. Honourable Sheriff Oborevwori has commenced massive reconstruction work on, thanking the Governor for his good work.

“The Ijaws should expect peace, understanding, unity, and productivity from both the Federal and State level. There will be a lot of activities.

“When you were coming, you saw the Bomadi road. That road has been there for the past twenty years. But today, Gov. Sheriff has commenced serious work on it and very soon, he shall complete it. The Ijaw people are very happy about him” Orubebe said.

Others who emphasized unity among the APC members are the member representing Burutu I Constituency,
Hon. Tony Alapala, Hon. Bradruce Angozie, the APC chairman in Burutu, Chief Seikemeingha Moni, amongst others.
