2027 Delta Guber: Gov. Oborevwori’s Sterling Performance ‘ll Guarantee His Return Unopposed, Majemite ClarifiesOlorogun Fred Majemite

*Says no one changes what is good
*I’m seeking face of God for direction on Senate seat.

Less than a week after Olorogun Fred Majemite after a former chieftain of the PDP (now APC), Olorogun Fred Majemite, declared that Gov. Sheriff Oborevwori will have no opposition on his way to a second term in office, the Ughelli-born politician has clarified that the sterling performance of the governor is enough for him to be return unopposed in 2027.

Majemite who fielded questions from curious newsmen over his assertion that Gov. Oborevwori would not have opposition in 2025, explained that the Governor’s sterling performance which every Deltans are presently attesting to, is just enough for him to be returned unopposed.

The former two-time Commissioner in the State emphasized that no one changes what is good, adding that for the sole reason, he believes there will be no vacancy in Osadebe House, come 2027.

“Apart from one or two instances, incumbent governors have always been given tickets. And the case of His Excellency Gov. Sheriff Oborevwori cannot be different, especially when we all believe that he is working very hard in delivering all his promises. You don’t charge what is good at all.

“So, for me, I believe that there is no vacancy in Osadebe House wherever the Governor is going to contest, he is going to win the election in 2027. That was why I said nobody will contest with him. Even those other people aspiring now know that the man is good, the man is doing well. So, we should support him so that he can continue to do more for our people”, he noted.

When confronted with the notion that that the APC party has one or two aspirant before the recent fusion of the two parties in the State, Majemite stated that although the APC had a candidate before and during the 2023 election, he was not aware the APC has an aspirant after the last election.

Majemite also contended that after the merger in the State, all notable leaders of the APC have queued behind His Excellency, Gov. Sheriff Oborevwori, adding that everybody should join hands with him to continue the good work he has been doing.

He admitted he was aware some persons are nursing ambition, but good reasons always give way for better ones.

“The APC before now does not have any aspirant, unless as of the last election, yes. But for 2027, I’m not aware of it. But besides, the leadership of the APC in Delta State, if you have been following the trend of things, they have all queued behind His Excellency. That is to show that he is doing very well. So, I don’t think anybody would want to contest with him, instead, the should all join hands to support him. That’s what I’m saying.

“I know that there are some persons nursing some ambitions, but good reasons give way for better ones”, he stated.

On why some PDP members who confessed their defections the the APC but are yet to formally resigned their membership of the PDP and register with the APC, Majemite disclosed that he has formally resigned.

“For me, I have formally resigned my membership of the PDP and that was why I made it public when I was filling my form for APC membership ship. I know also very many people have resigned. The governor has openly said it that his vitals have left the PDP and they are now with the APC. People should not complain because there is still time”, he advised.

Majemite also dispelled the assumption in some quarters that, although the defection of the governor and other leadership of the PDP to the APC has been declared public, the old PDP structure in the State remains intact and that after 2027 those who defected will return. According to him, he has been in PDP over these years, adding that now that he has a better reason to go to the APC, he is not going back now nor in the future.

“Anybody who knows me very well knows that I don’t go back on my words. I’ve been in PDP since inception. I’ve never faltered one day. But I now have reasons to move. And now that I have moved, I doubt if I want to go back, Majemite further explained.

On whether or not he was considering joining the Delta Central Senatorial race for 2027, Olorogun Majemite clarified that now that the PDP and APC in the State have become one big family, when the time comes those who have interest for the race would come out, adding that the party would look at them and their antecedents and decide on who to field as the party’s candidate. According to him, every person is free to express interest for the Senate seat, adding that there is no restriction.

He further said that the Senate seat for Delta Central will be keenly contested in 2027, adding that before then, more aspirants will certainly emerge on the scene.

“Now that some of us have joined the APC we see ourselves as one big family. And those who would have interest for the race will come out. And the party will look at them, size then, look at their credentials, what they have done before or what they are doing now and decide on who should fly the party flag.

“I’m saying this because anybody can contest any position, there is no restriction. The only position that I know there is no vacancy is the Government House, Osadebe, Asaba and the Presidency. Every other position, as far as I’m concerned is contestable.

“The Senate seat for Delta Central will be keenly contested. The party, as it were, will x-ray all the aspirants and take a decision. Of course, the party will allow the delegates to decide the date of the aspirants”, he submitted.

On whether or not he would not cave in to external pressure for him to step down for some one, Majemite said that it is true that he has attempted the Senate seat twice and twice he has been advised to withdraw for someone else, and he did. He however vowed that this time around he will not be persuaded to withdraw from the Senate race.

“I think this time now I may not have the luxury of withdrawal for people like I had done in the past for late Olorogun Senator Felix Ibru and Senator Aguariavwodo.

“I’ seeking the face of God and if God directs me to go into the race, I will not withdraw for anybody. Whatever happens let it happen in the field”, he concluded.
