Executive Governor of Delta State, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has reiterated his administration’s policy of prudent management of the State resources, stressing that he believes in transparency and accountability in governance.

Oborevwori who stated this in his address at the ground-breaking ceremony of the Otovwodo junction Flyover in Ughelli today, disclosed that so much money is coming to the state and that it is his responsibility to prudently apply the funds for the benefit of the people.

He disclosed that the 345 meters long Flyover project which is expected to address the traffic gridlock problem on that section of the East-West road, has been awarded to the construction giant, Julius Berger PLC at the cost of N39.3 billion, adding that the project is expected to complete within 12.calendar months.

“Our infrastructure plan is anchored on two fronts, one – prudent allocation of resources, for the delivery of reliable, quality and durable road infrastructure. Two, building of urban Centres, community and other rural roads.

“This project has been awarded to Julius Berger at the cost of N39.3 billion. The construction period is 12 months. The Flyover is 345 meters in length. When completed, the project will facilitate free movement of vehicles, free movement of goods and free movement of economic goods in the area and adjoining communities”, he disclosed.

Gov. Oborevwori also appealed to motorists and other road users to be patient the construction work goes on, adding that it is just the sacrifice that is required to develop the area.

“I appeal to motorists to be patient, exercise restraints and obey traffic controllers to avoid unnecessary obstructions and delays. These are necessary sacrifices we must take for a better society.

“Let me use this opportunity to inform Deltans that this year our government will flag off many infrastructural projects and human capital development programs across the State that will have direct impacts on our people.

“All these projects were done without borrowing a dime from any bank or anywhere. I want to assure Deltans that the 2026 budget that we shall soon implement we shall not also borrow money to fund that budget by the grace of God.

“We believe in transparency, we believe in accountability. It is only Delta State that can achieve it. No other State in Nigeria can achieve it, Gov. Oborevwori said.

He concluded that money is coming into ge State, adding that he was using the money to make life better for Deltans.

“But in all these, remember the Renewed Hope for the MORE Agenda. The work we are doing is announcing us. At this time, more money is coming into this state. I’m not a governor that will hide. What am I hiding for? There is money and I’m using the money for the state so that the people will be happy”, he said.
