With the ban on political campaigns lifted by the electoral umpire, INEC, a chieftain of the All Progressive Congress, APC in Ughelli North Local Government Area, Olorogun Fred Majemite, has affirmed that the people of the area are set to deliver President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Gov. Sheriff Oborevwori, Distinguished Senator Ede Dafinone and other candidates of the party in the 2027 general election.
Speaking to journalists in his country home, Ughelli on Tuesday 25 August, 2026, Majemite assured that, unlike 2025 when the then PDP lost to opposition party in the area, this time around the ruling party APC Leaders and Stakeholders have perfected their strategy to deliver all their candidates in the forthcoming election.
When reminded that one of the top contenders for the Delta Central Senatorial seat in the election, Senator Omo-Agege of NDC is from Ughelli North, Olorogun Majemite stated that party is supreme, adding that the people of the area will vote massively and overwhelmingly for Senator Ede Dafinone, who is the APC candidate for the Senatorial election.
Majemite who is a former Senatorial aspirant, also vowed that the APC members in Ughelli North have resolved to vote overwhelmingly for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori in the forthcoming election, adding that the sterling performances of Mr. President and Governor Oborevwori are enough to achieve a seamless victory in 2027.
“In party politics, the party is supreme. As an APC member, we already have our candidates. All we can do as faithful party members is to ensure that our candidates wins. If you may recall, I was at a time also interested in the Delta Central Senatorial seat before now. But once the party has chosen its candidates, our duty is to support them to victory. And like I said, the party is supreme.
Regretting the loss of the presidential election to opposition in 2023 election, Majemite noted that such would not be allowed to happen in the 2027 election, stating that the ruling party APC in the state has learnt its lesson, assuring that the experience of 2023 would not repeat itself.
According to him, Gov. Oborevwori has performed so creditably well to the extent that his achievements have become tools with which the APC would campaign and win overwhelmingly.
‘We lost the presidential election in the state in 2023. We as a party have learnt our lesson. We have taken time to ensure that that does not repeat itself this time around.
“Delta Central must ensure that we vote our candidates President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Senator Ede Dafinone, Hon. Francis Waive, His Excellency Rt. Hon. Elder Sheriff Oborevwori and other party candidates, not just to win but to win overwhelmingly. So that Mr. President will take note of our own contribution, that’s all.
“Ughelli North has always been the cynosure of elections, the hot bed. Apart from being the capital of Delta Central, it has always been in opposition. This time around, we are all one now. We have a governor who has done so well, who is also doing so well. So, we have things we can campaign with now. It is our duty to change the mindset of the electorate and to let them know that the the MORE Agenda of the governor is for everybody”, he assured.
Majemite offered that if he is in a position to advice Gov. Sheriff Oborevwori, he would recommend emphasis on agriculture, adding that it is a sure way to eradicate unemployment in the state.
He suggested the extension of facilities to assist farmers to address their challenges both in cash and infrastructure, pointing out that agriculture provides huge employment opportunities.
Majemite further added that he would also advice the Delta State government to embark on massive housing projects for civil servants in the state to ameliorate the challenge of death of accommodation in the state.
“If I’m to advice now I would say that the government should place emphasis in Agriculture. Agriculture is not a rocket science. Once the government begins to emphasize that, everybody will begin to enjoy it. Once they know that they can get facility to carry out their agricultural business, they will grab it and create employment for themselves. The other aspect is to build roads into the hinterland to enable farmers evacuate their produce from their farm gates to the markets.
“Then I would also advice the government to engage in building affordable houses for civil servants. I know they have started doing something in that direction but the scale should be escalated”, he said.
“Whether you like it or not, the APC government will continue till 2031 and beyond”, Majemite concluded.
