*Hundreds of beneficiaries praise Senatoe

After the highly successful outing in Sapele where several hundreds of persons benefited, the Senator Dafinone Free Health Initiative in collaboration with the National Health Fellows (NHF) medical outreach has landed in Oghara, headquarters of Ethiope West Local Government Area of the State.
Our Correspondent reports that well over 120 residents of the area received free medical care on Saturday, October 4, 2025, as the Delta Central Diabetes Sensitization and Testing Medical Outreach stormed
The one-day programme offered diabetes and hypertension checks, tuberculosis testing, counseling, and free medications. Health workers described the turnout as “encouraging and inspiring,” with beneficiaries expressing gratitude for what many called a “life-saving” initiative.
Kick-starting the event, Prudence Emudianughe, the National Health Fellow for Ethiope West, said the outreach reflected Senator Dafinone’s commitment to community health.
“Many here can’t afford these tests, but today they’re getting them free,” she noted.
Representing the Senator, Mr. Nathan Ofomala emphasized that Dafinone’s goal was to promote sustainable healthcare access across all eight local government areas of Delta Central, adding that “Preventive health is far cheaper than curative health.”
While giving a health talk on the occasion, the Executive Secretary of the Ethiope West Health Authority, Dr. Abeke Kingsley, educated participants on diabetes prevention and lifestyle management.
“Check your blood sugar regularly, eat less processed sugar, and walk daily. Small changes make a big difference,” he advised.
Residents actively engaged with health officials, asking questions about diet and medication. For Mr. Sunday Ufuoma, it was a life-changing experience: “This is my first time getting tested. I’ve been weak for months, but now I know what to do. God bless Senator Dafinone.”
The atmosphere was lively as pharmacists dispensed free drugs and volunteers assisted the elderly. Nurse Oghenefejiro Ude said, “Many older people had never checked their blood pressure before. You could see relief on their faces.”
As the programme ended with songs of appreciation, Emudianughe promised more outreach visits across Delta Central. “Health should never be a privilege — it’s a right,” she said.
For the people of Ethiope West, the outreach was more than a medical mission — it was a gesture of hope and compassion from a leader determined to build a healthier community.
