The Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, has flagged off the construction of 250 housing unit Delta in Ekpan in Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State as the Federal Government commences one of its cardinal programme of addressing the problem of housing deficit across the country.
The Minister, Arc Ahmed Musa Dangiwa who performed the groundbreaking ceremony in Ekpan over the weekend noted that it was part of the federal government Renewed Hope for the development of Cities and Estates Programme of the Ministry.
Speaking at the occasion, Arc Dangiwa commended the Delta State Governor, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, who was represented by his Deputy, Sir. Monday Oyeme, for providing land for the project at no cost.
Giving a breakdown of the housing units, the Minister stated that: “This estate comprises 50 units of 1-bedroom semi-detached bungalows, 150 units of 2-bedroom semi-detached bungalows, and 50 units of 3-bedroom semi-detached.
“We have designed these housing units in a way that make them affordable for people to acquire by using organic designs to allow for future expansion as the income of beneficiaries increases. This means that a 1-bedroom unit can be expanded to 2 bedrooms, and a 2-bedroom unit can also be expanded to 3 bedrooms as the owner’s financial situation improves or their family grows.”
Commending the federal government for the initiative, Gov. Sheriff Oborevwori who was represented at the occasion by his Deputy, Sir. Monday Oyeme expressed gratitude to the Ministry for including Delta State among the first set of beneficiaries of the project, pledging to cooperate with the federal government to promote the welfare of nigerians, especially Deltans.
“We are grateful to the Federal Government for including our state among the thirteen states for the commencement of the Renewed Hope Housing Estate Project. It was without hesitation that I approved this land measuring 25 Hectares for this laudable project. I pledged to give our people meaningful development.” Gov. Oborevwori said.
Earlier, the Minister, Arc Dangiwa had charged the contractors to deliver the houses to approved specification within the timeline of three months.
Responding, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, MD/CEO, Prince Sam Ogrih, Goodnews Creative Ideas Limited, the contracting firm thanked the federal government for bringing the project to the state just as thanked the governor, His Excellency,.Oborevwori for providing land for the project.
He assured that the company was committed to delivering the project within the time limit.
