Senator representing Delta Central Senatorial District, Ede Dafinone has Senator Ede Dafinone has taken a significant step to foster stronger ties with the chairmen of the 8 Local Government Areas in the District.
The strategic meeting which was hosted by the Delta Central Senator, was held at Otor-Udu Gas Plant Hotel, was aimed at integrating grassroots needs into national planning and development frameworks. It was attended by seven out of the eight Local Government chairmen with the chairman of Ethiope West Council chairman, absent.
DeltaVoice correspondent gathered that
the engagement follows recent political shifts in Delta State, where former PDP local government chairmen joined the All Progressives Congress (APC), prompting Senator Dafinone to initiate the dialogue with the new leaders.
According to the Senator, there is the urgent need to synergize and identify areas where LG Councils and his office can collaborate to deliver development to local communities. “The goal is not just political familiarity, but practical cooperation,” he reportedly stated.
It was further gathered that key discussion points in the engagement included ensuring democracy’s dividends in the for of federal intervention, infrastructure and policy support reach the grassroots.
A cross section of respondents told DeltaVoice that this is the first time in the political history of Delta State since 1999 where a Senator representing Delta Central would seek a collaboration with the State and Local governments in a deliberate bid to address the need of the people at the grassroots jointly.
