Dafinone Commends Okpe Monarch HRM Orhue I Over Flag off Of Sub-Palace Project In Sapele

Senator Ede Dafinone, representing Delta Central Senatorial in the National Assembly, has congratulated the Okpe Monarch, HRM Major General Felix Mujakperuo (Rtd), CFR, Orhue I, the Orodje of Okpe Kingdom, for the successful inaugurated of a befitting Sub-Palace project in Sapele, Sapele Local Government Area of Delta State.

It would be recalled that Okpe kingdom comprises of Okpe Local Government Area with headquarters in Orer Okpe and Sapele Local Government Area, with headquarters in Sapele.

The Okpe Monarch on January 24, 2026 performed the ground-breaking of the Sub-Palace ceremony in Sapele, with thousands of Okpe sons and daughters including Okpe chiefs in attendance.

In his remarks, Senator Ede Dafinone who himself is an Okpe from Sapele, hailed the initiative, describing it as a landmark event which “represents a significant step in the preservation of Okpe history, culture, and traditional institutions”, adding that it “reflects the enduring relevance of the Orodje stool as a symbol of unity, authority, and continuity for the Okpe people”.

He further applauded the Okpe Monarch on the deep consideration that gave birth to the decision, adding that the Sapele Okpe sub.palace is not only significant for the preservation of Okpe history and culture, but it is relevant for the identity, legitimacy, and cultural heritage for present and future generation of the Okpe people.

Major General Felix Mujakperuo (Rtd), CFR, Orhue I, the Orodje of Okpe Kingdom, on the successful groundbreaking ceremony of the Orodje Sub-Palace in Sapele, held on January 24, 2026.

“This landmark event represents a significant step in the preservation of Okpe history, culture, and traditional institutions, and reflects the enduring relevance of the Orodje stool as a symbol of unity, authority, and continuity for the Okpe people.

“The Sub-Palace stands not merely as a physical structure, but as a reaffirmation of identity, legitimacy, and cultural heritage for present and future generations.

“This initiative demonstrates a deep understanding of history and governance, and affirms the Sub-Palace as a vital institutional presence that reinforces the traditional and administrative role of the Orodje”, Dafinone stated.

The national lawmaker further stated that “The Orodje Sub-Palace is of profound historical importance, underscoring the overlordship of the Orodje of Okpe Kingdom as the only recognised traditional ruler in Sapele and across the Okpe Kingdom.

“Its restoration and renewal strengthen the documented historical foundations of Okpe traditional authority and ensure that this legacy is firmly preserved in the national consciousness.

“I commend His Royal Majesty for this visionary leadership and reaffirm my commitment to initiatives that uphold history, peace, and cultural preservation”, Dafinone concluded.
