The Delta State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori as its presidential and governorship candidates respectively for the 2027 general elections.
Rising from a strategic State Executive Committee meeting which held today the 27th August , 2025 at its secretariat in Asaba, presided by the State chairman, Elder Omeni Sobotie, the Exco endorsed the President, His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu as Presidential candidate and His Excellency Rt. Hin. Sheriff Oborevwori as governorship candidate of the party for 2027 Elections respectively.
The resolution was followed by a vote of confidence on the duo which was overwhelmingly adopted by all members of the State Executive Council SEC) members including party local government chairmen from across the 25 LGAs in the state.
In his welcome address, Elder Sobotie urged party stakeholders to remain disciplined and united, stressing that the APC’s electoral strength in Delta depends largely on reconciliation, tolerance, and cohesion. He added that the party would roll out an empowerment programme next month aimed at delivering practical benefits to members and boosting its goodwill across the grassroots.
Deliberations at the meeting focused on the state of the party across the local governments, with speakers highlighting the need to address internal divisions, mobilize more support, and reposition the APC as a serious contender in the state’s politics ahead of 2027.
The highlight of the session was a unanimous resolution affirming President Tinubu as the sole presidential candidate of the APC. Members commended his economic reforms and described his leadership under the Renewed Hope Agenda as laying the foundation for national stability and growth.
The Committee also endorsed Governor Oborevwori as the party’s flagbearer for the Delta governorship race, citing his record of service and achievements under the M.O.R.E. Agenda. The motion for endorsement was moved by the State Assistant Auditor, Chief Ubu Jiminyevwe Digbame, and seconded by Pastor Norbert Sochukwudinma, Chairman of APC in Aniocha South Local Government Area. The resolution was adopted with loud applause from the gathering.
While assuring that the Party remains resolute in mobilizing and consolidating grassroots support that will deliver resounding victory for the APC in the 2027 general elections, the Committee reiterated its total commitment to the principles of unity, discipline and service,
The meeting was concluded with a prayer of thanksgiving and dedication for the peace, progress, and unity of the Party, led by Sir Joshua Kekeje, Chairman of Ughelli South Local Government Area.
