*Calls on People to go pick up their PVCs

The Executive Chairman of Warri North Local Government Area, Hon. Smart Yomi Asekutu, has assured the people of the area that 2023 will usher in a better and prosperous opportunities, adding that it will provide the leverage for the people to make their choice.
Asekutu who fielded questions from newsmen in Koko, on his reflection of the outgoing year, gave thanks to God for the streak of achievements the Council recorded throughout the period irrespective of the difficult environment that characterized the year.
According to him, 2022 witnessed a lot of developmental achievements by the Council to the extent that the chairman was recognized by the Federal Ministry of Special Duties, as the best performing Council boss in Delta State.
He specifically highlighted the enthronement of peace and co-existence among the people of Warri North during the year under review, just as he saluted the cooperation of the Council Legislative Arm and the Council staff for their understanding and demonstration of love for one another.
Asekutu who, though lamented the loss of his octogenarian father at the twilight of the year, expressed thanks for Almighty God, for the enduring safety and security throughout the year, adding that the developmental achievements of the Council was a function of the peaceful atmosphere and conviviality among the people of Warri North.
“In reviewing the activities of our Council in the past twelve months, I cannot but remain thankful for the Almighty God who gave us life, strength and the wherewithal for us to do the little we did during the period.
“I have joy in my heart that the little we did in terms of development of the Council Area was recognized both at the State and at the national levels. But all of these were made possible by the cooperation of the Legislative Arm of the Council, the Staff, the entire people of Warri North, and above all, the support of our amiable governor, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, whom I remain eternally grateful to.
“I must also express thanks to the support from most of the leaders in the area, including the traditional institution who also demonstrated their commitment towards love and peaceful co-existence among the people.
“Although, we lost one of the key stakeholders of Warri North in the person of my dear father, late High Chief Simeon Asekutu at the twilight of the year, we give Glory to God for leading us successfully to the year end”, he said.
Projecting towards 2023, Asekutu sent a message of hope and encouragement to the people of Warri North, assuring that it is going to be a great year that will usher in progress, peace and development.
He reminded them of the significance of the February-March, 2023 general election, adding that it will provide a unique opportunity for the people to determine how to choose a leader that will meet their aspiration.
He encouraged the people of Warri North to go get their voters’ cards to enable them exercise their civic responsibility.
“As I can see, the year 2023 has a lot in stock for us. I foresee great development in our Local Government Area as we continue to maintain peace and love amongst ourselves.
“I therefore call on us to go get our PVC to enable us elect leaders whom we feel will meet our needs”, he noted.
