It was the gathering of the ‘who is who’ in Delta State and beyond when the member representing the Isoko Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Pastor Engr. Hon. Jonathan Ukodhiko, chose to thank God in a special way on December 24, 2023 in his country home, Erawha-Owhe, Isoko North Local Government Area.
In attendance to assist the national lawmaker thank God for His abundant grace in his life, were the Executive Governor of the State, His Excellency Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori and his wife, Mrs. Tobore Oborevwori, immediate past governor of the state, His Excellency Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa and former Governor, His Excellency, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan.
Also present to grace the occasion was the Senator representing Delta South in the National Assembly, Sen. Joel Onowhakpo-Thomas, member representing Bomadi/Patani Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Nicholas Mutu, Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi
Guwor, State PDP chairman, Sen. Stella Omu, Barr. Kingsley Esiso, Hon. Leo Ogor, among other state functionaries.
In attendance also was an array of royal fathers from across the state and notable men of God from different Christan denominations who were present to thank God for the life of Hon. Ukodhiko, who himself is a Pastor.
In his remarks at the occasion, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Oborevwori thanked God for the election victory of Hon. Ukodhiko and his victories at the Election Petition Tribunal as well as in the Court of Appeal, stressing that all through the hand of God was manifest and the people of Isoko people spoke loud and clear to affirm their trust in him.
“I congratulate Hon. Ukodhiko for the various victories God granted him at the polls and at the courts. I am not surprised he won because he is a very humble man.
“Thank you for your humility, getting to this position is by God grace because God said it is your time and your meekness has kept you.
“Giving thanks provokes God’s divine intervention in every aspects of life because it moves God to do more. So, I thank you for inviting all of us to thank God with you.
“I urge you to use your position to unite the Isoko people because there is so much division in Isoko nation. Don’t be a divider, be a unifier.
“I urge you to keep up with your humility, because it will take you far in life. God gave you this position to organize your people; so, try use the position for that purpose”, he said.
Former Governor, His Excellency, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, also used the occasion to congratulate Hon. Pastor Ukodhiko, thanking God for His grace upon his life.
In appreciation Hon. Ukodhiko had thanked all those who came from far and near to assist him to appreciate God. He particularly thanked the Governor, H.E. Oborevwori who was accompanied by his wife, H.E. Okowa, H.E. Uduaghan amongst others.
“On behalf of myself and my family, I would like to express our heartfelt appreciation to His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, the Executive Governor of Delta State, and his wife, Deaconess Tobore Oborevwori, HE. Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, HE. Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, members of the National Assembly, Rt. Hon. Guwor Emomotimi, Speaker Delta State House of Assembly, Olorogun Barr. Kingsley Esiso, Chairman, Delta State PDP, to all the officiating clergymen, our traditional rulers, party faithful, organising committee, and every other dignitary whose names I could not mention.
“The amount of love that was shown today was incredible, and my family and I are grateful for it.
We appreciate your attendance, and we pray that the good Lord will continue to keep you all blessed and safe”, he said
Earlier in a sermon, titled, “The things that wise men do,” Pastor Olufemi Olumide of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Region 34, admonished all men to always show gratitude to God in thanksgiving always, adding that He is always ready to answer prayers and do more when He is appreciated.
