Senator Ede Dafinone, representing Delta Central, has congratulated Olorogun Peter Igho, MFR, on his conferment of the title Kakakin Daular Usmaniya of Sokoto by the Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III, CFR.
In a statement issued on Monday, Dafinone joined other well-meaning Urhobos, Deltans, and Nigerians to celebrate the cultural icon, stating he deserved the title.
The national lawmaker described the former Executive Director, Programmes, Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) as a bridge-builder and a worthy statesman.
“Olorogun Peter Igho is a cultural icon, a nation-builder, and a true bridge-builder. His work in life has touched countless lives, and this honour from the Sultan of Sokoto is not only symbolic but also richly merited”, he emphasized.
Dafinone further described the President of the Urhobo Leadership Forum, as an “astute ambassador of the Urhobo nation and a pan-Deltan whose leadership and influence continue to inspire generations”, adding that “he richly deserved recognition”.

According to Dafinone, “Olorogun Peter Igho is a cultural icon and nation-builder,” This title from the Sultan is a testament to his enduring legacy and unwavering commitment to national development.”
He urged Nigerians to celebrate leaders who embody unity and traditional values, adding that Igho’s life and work stand as a model of selfless service.
It would be recalled that the Kokori-born veteran journalist retired from the Nigerian Television Authority as a Director-general. He was later appointed as the CEO of the National Lottery Regulatory Commission in 2009.
He was Conferred with the National Honour of Member of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, MFR. In the course of his long service in the NTA, Olorogun Igho also served as the Head, Dramatic Department, NTA Sokoto and later as the Controller of Programmes, NTA Sokoto
