The dwindling fortunes of the Okowa-led PDP government in the State has continued unabated as key appointees/aides of the governor are resigning in droves.
The latest of such hits on the vice-presidential seeking governor, was the resignation of one of his Special Assistants on Security, an ex-militant leader from the oil-producing area of Egbema kingdom in Warri North LGA, ‘Gen’ Alaowei Promise Lawuru, aka ‘Master Black’.
Lawuru, it was gathered, resigned his appointment last week via a letter he addressed to the Secretary to the State government, the receipt of which was acknowledged on December 6, 2022.
Although, the Ex-militant leader attributed his resignation to personal reason, he however indicated that his action was to enable him pursue his career just as he thanked the governor for the opportunity he offered him to serve.
Lawuru who hails from Egbema kingdom in Warri North Local Government Area of the State, was reported to have addressed a press conference in aftermath of his resignation from the Okowa-led government, wherein he disclosed to journalists that his homestead has been a subject of marginalization, comparing it to an envelope which is discarded when the content has been removed and read.
“Egbema kingdom has become a proverbial envelope that the readers discard after reading or taking the letter inside. When they are seeking a position, they will all run to us, but as soon as they gain power, they forget us, but 2023 is not going to be business as usual, our people will vote wisely and their vote will count”, he said.
A copy of the resignation letter sighted by our correspondent reads thus: “I write to resign my appointment as Special Assistant (Security) to the Governor of Delta State, Senator (Dr) Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa.”
“My decision is taken out of personal conviction to further my career.
“I thank His Excellency, the Governor of Delta State, Senator (Dr.) Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa for the opportunity given me to serve our Dear state as Special Assistant (Security). This opportunity is no doubt has widened my horizon in the affairs of government.”
“I also thank my political associates and friends for their support while on this special assignment. Yours Sincerely, Alaowei Promise Lawuru.”
