The Leadership of the All Progressives Congress APC Delta State has joined millions of Nigerians to once again celebrate another significant milestone in our nation’s Independence Day celebration today.
In a goodwill message signed by the chairman, Elder Omeni Sobotie, the party charged Nigerians to reflect on the common destiny, unity and love in cultural diversity they share, stressing that the recent challenges confronting the people are surmountable with resilience and determination to succeed.
“As we celebrate our most cherished independence together as a nation, we must seize this opportunity to reflect on our shared destiny, unity, vibrant cultural diversity and resilience in the face of daunting challenges that have confronted us as a people in recent times.
“There is no doubt that recent political, economical, social and security upheavals have tested the very fabric of our existential unity as a nation, but for the attitudinal resilience and resolute belief the ‘one Nigeria’ spirit that sustained us through these difficult moments”, Sobotie said.
He noted that in times like this, the ability of Nigerians to confront the challenges headlong is the only Panacea that can deliver the renewed hope and catapult Nigeria as a nation to take its pride of place in the comity of nations.
He also advised Nigerians, especially the youths that while the nation celebrates its 64th birth day, we must put in remembrance the efforts of the country’s past heroes whose effort produced the present freedom, adding that Nigerians should not lose sight of those are hellbent to the country of the hard-earned freedom by inciting unsuspecting and innocent youths to unwanted behaviours.
He said: “While the celebration of our independence day has been called into question by some in the face of economic hardship and rising costs of living, the price of greatness equally demands sacrifice and total determination, if we are to take our pride place in the comity of nations as world leaders.
“Today’s independence day celebration is not just for the remembrance of our heroes past and the price they paid for our desired freedoms, but a time to remind ourselves that there are reactionary forces all across this country who now daily seek to deny us the enjoyment of these freedoms through manipulation of unsuspecting innocent citizens, particularly the youths of our nation, for selfish parochial interests.
“Our celebration today is a passionate appeal to our teeming youths who, as future leaders of our hard fought democracy, must rise up to the occasion and rid themselves of the tendencies of being easily manipulated as willing tools for destructive ends by failed politicians masquerading as defenders of democracy.”
He further encouraged the youths to prepare a great future for themselves by embracing functional education, technology, innovations and entrepreneurial skills that will determine the greatness of any country in the world in the very near future.
“It is increasingly important that our youths must envision a future of leadership in education, technology, innovation and entrepreneurship. They must build on the accomplishments in areas of sports, films and music where Nigeria is now a recognizable leader both in Africa and the world.
“Together, let us celebrate a new hope and determination towards building a Nigeria that is united and prosperous as we celebrate our rich tapestry of diverse cultures, collective strength and indomitable spirit in pursuit of great nationhood”, the chairman said as he wished Nigerians:
“A Happy Independence Day” 🇳🇬🇳🇬🇳🇬
