Political Leaders from Ethiope West Local Government Area have congratulated the Odidimadi of Urhobo land, Chief Ighoyota Amori As the septuagenarian celebrate his 74th Birthday.
Expressing a goodwill message on behalf of the Ethiope West Constituency Political Leaders, APC Chieftain and Political Leaders in the area, Chief Ofa Henry Ochuko JP PhD, heartily congratulated Chief Ighoyota Amori, saying they are proud of him especially for his devotion to selfless service, visionary Leadership and commitment to the development of Ethiope West sons and daughters.
According to Chief Ofa, the entrance of Chief Amori into politics has given hope, opportunities and progress to very many lives, adding that for any political office Chief Amori has occupied, the people have benefited immensely from it.
“On behalf of the political leaders of our constituency and the good people we represent, we heartily congratulate you and your family as you celebrate your 74th birthday.
“Today, we proudly identify with you and celebrate a life devoted to selfless service, visionary leadership, and unwavering commitment to the development of our people. Your birth and your decision to venture into politics have brought hope, opportunities, and progress to countless lives.
“History bears testimony that every office you have occupied has witnessed remarkable growth and transformation, earning you the admiration and respect of the people”, Ofa offered.
Ofa who is the Ame of Oghara kingdom, recalled that Chief Amori’s several decades in politics has been very significant among the people, education and governance.
He vividly recalled Chief Amori’s modest beginning as a Supervisory Councillor for education, Commissioner Education and later, for Water Resources, Senior Political Adviser and currently, Chief Political Adviser, his record of performance has been very impressive.
Ofa said: “Your distinguished political career spans several decades and is marked by numerous recognitions from both the people ,universities and successive governments.
“These honours are well deserved, reflecting your people-oriented leadership style, humility, accessibility, and willingness to listen to all, irrespective of political affiliation.
“Your impressive record of public service includes serving as Supervising Councillor for Education, Commissioner for Education, Commissioner for Water Resources, Senior Political Adviser, Chairman of the Asaba Capital Territory, and currently as the Chief Adviser to the Governor—the first individual to occupy this historic position in our state.
“Your tenure as Commissioner for Education remains one of the most outstanding chapters in the history of educational administration in our state”.
The former Commissioner for DESOPADEC whose record of performance remains indelible and unequalled, specially recalled Chief Amori’s tenure as the Commissioner of Education, adding that the Odidimadi of Urhobo nation regularly visited every Local Government Area in the state to assess progress in education and educational infrastructure.
“With exceptional foresight and a deep commitment to educational development, you embarked on a comprehensive familiarisation tour of every local government area to personally assess the peculiar educational challenges confronting each locality.
“This was a groundbreaking initiative and, to this day, remains the only known instance where such a statewide assessment was deliberately undertaken as government policy. The exercise provided first-hand knowledge that informed targeted interventions while inspiring Education Secretaries, Chief Inspectors of Education (CIEs), and other education administrators to raise their standards of performance, accountability, and service delivery.
“Your administration as commissioner for education,also demonstrated a clear understanding that educational development and economic empowerment go hand in hand.
“By opening opportunities for emerging indigenous contractors through the award of contracts—ranging from the supply of as few as fifty (50) classroom desks to the provision of writing materials and other essential educational needs—you created an avenue through which many young entrepreneurs, artisans, and women participated in government projects for the first time.
“This inclusive approach not only improved educational infrastructure but also stimulated the state’s grassroots economy, ensuring that the benefits of government spending reached ordinary families across our communities”, he said.
Ofa also remembered Chief Amori’s massive contribution to facilitate growth and transformation in the establishment of three Polytechnic, College of Physical Education as well as expanding the contribution to SUBEB and upgrading of schools.
“Under your visionary leadership, the education sector experienced remarkable growth and transformation. Your tenure facilitated the establishment of three state polytechnics and a state College of Physical Education , strategically spread across the three senatorial districts, thereby expanding access to quality tertiary education.
“Through the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), you also championed the fencing of numerous public primary schools across the state, protecting them from encroachment and unwanted intrusion, which had become a major concern at the time.
“These enduring achievements remain visible testimonies to your foresight, administrative excellence, and unwavering commitment to building a stronger educational foundation for future generations”, Of a noted.
“Perhaps one of your greatest contributions to our state was your exceptional role in fostering unity ahead of the 2023 general elections. Recognising the importance of equity and fairness, you championed the formation of a strong Urhobo lobbying team that engaged leaders across the various ethnic nationalities in the state.
“Through your strategic leadership and political wisdom, broad support was secured, ultimately leading to the emergence of an Urhobo governor under the Peoples Democratic Party. This remarkable achievement remains a testament to your foresight, diplomacy, and unmatched political acumen.
“Without sounding immodest, your wealth of experience across all your endeavours—particularly in politics—and your proven record of crafting winning strategies throughout your political career, irrespective of the political parties under which you served, continue to inspire confidence”, Of a offered.
While thanking the celebrant for his
strategies as grassroots mobilizer, he expressed “confidence in his vision, wisdom, and winning touch to the All Progressives Congress (APC)”.
Ofa, offered prayers to God for “good health, divine wisdom, abundant strength, peace of mind, and continued protection”, adding, “May He continue to bless your life and preserve you for greater service to humanity”.
