The immediate past Deputy President of the Nigerian Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege has called on members of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Delta State to be committed to the task of consolidating on the achievement of the party in the 2023 election.
This is even as leaders and members of the party in Ughelli North Local Government Area passed a confidence vote on the party leadership of Senator Ovie Omo-Agege.
Omo-Agege who made the call during an interactive session with members and leaders of the party in Ughelli North LGA on Thursday December 13, 2024 at Ughelli kingdom hall, Ughelli, frowned at those suggesting that the party needs rebuilding, stressing that there was no need to rebuild a party that was already in existence and already on a winning path.
“The message here today is this. We need to strengthen the party. Not rebuilding it, but strengthen it. We must consolidate our gains where we won and rebuild where we lost.
“We won here in Delta Central. We need to consolidate in Delta Central, not to rebuild in Delta Central. We won in Delta South, we need to consolidate in Delta South. We lost in Delta North, so we need to rebuild in Delta North.
“My appeal to you is this, let us work to consolidate our gains. The gains we have made, help us to consolidate it, help us to sanitize it. And then for Delta North, we need help to rebuild it. We don’t want people to come here to destroy what we have put together”, he emphasized.
Stressing further on the need to consolidate the gains of the party in Delta Central, Senator Omo-Agege recalled that just two days ago, the party harvested a political juggernaut from the PDP to APC, adding that the process of consolidation of the party in Delta Central has just begun.
“Only two days ago, as part of the consolidation, we were able to attract the movement to APC of a political juggernaut Rt. Hon. Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu into our party. Now, it is consolidation we are seeking. We want more people like that to come into the party to help strengthen what we have already built”, he said.
Meanwhile, leaders and members of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Ughelli North LGA, have passed a confidence vote on the former Deputy President of the Senate and APC governorship candidate’s leadership.
This took place at the Ughelli kingdom hall where the former DSP held an interactive session with leaders and stakeholders of the APC in Ughelli North LGA.
Hon. Abel Oshevire, a former member of the Delta State House of Assembly from Ughelli North, moved the motion for the Confidence Vote on the former DSP and it was carried when it was put to voice vote with the whole hall echoed aye and no nay.
Present at the Ughelli APC meeting include the Acting State chairman of the party, Barr. Francis Obigbor, State Secretary, Surv. Peter Akarogbe and several other members of the State Working Committee, SWC.
Others include a leader of the party from Abraka, Chief Judith Emuobonuvie Enamuotor, Leader of APC in Ughelli North, Prof. Ibodje, APC chairman in Ughelli North, Mr. Onoabedje Obakpororo, Chief Ominimini Obiuwevbi, Engr. Asa, among other party stalwarts.
