*Isoko deserves federal govt presence, he says

As the member representing the Isoko North Isoko South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Jonathan Ajiroghene Ukodhiko, expressed joy over his victory at the Lagos Appeal Court, the national lawmaker has assured that with the distraction over, he is poised to focus attention on how to attract dividends if democracy to the Isoko nation.

It would be recalled that Hon. Ukodhiko who was declared winner at the February 25 NASS election but the Election Petition Tribunal declared a rerun election in some units. The National lawmaker however appealed the Tribunal judgment to the Court of Appeal sitting in Lagos where the Tribunal judgment was set aside and his election upheld.

However, responding to questions from newsmen in his country home, Erahwa recently, Hon. Ukodhiko recalled his electioneering promises to his people that he would build on the legacy left behind by his predecessor, Hon. Leo Ogor, and ensured that the Isoko nation gets the best presence from the Federal government.

Lamenting that in spite of her contributions to the national economy, the Isoko nation has not even one federal institution to show for it, Ukodhiko, assuring that he was working towards attracting federal present to his people.

“We told them that we are going to build on whatever Hon. Leo Ogor has done. And when I look at the Isoko nation as a whole there is no single federal institution in any part of it.

“Despite the contribution of the Isoko nation to the growth and national development of the country. So, I feel that Isoko deserves a federal institution, Isoko deserves more of federal presence. And that is what we are working towards”, he said.

Speaking further, the national lawmaker noted that although the job of developing the Isoko nation is not going to be an easy one, he was sure that working in synergy with the State government, there is going to be light at the end of the tunnel.

“This job is not going to be easy, let nobody be deceived. But we have kick- started. We believe that with trust and faith in God in whatever we are doing, and the fact that we also have a governor that is very supportive in every way, we believe that we shall see the light at the end of the tunnel”, Ukodhiko offered.

Recalling the good works and legacy left behind by his predecessor, Hon. Leo Ogor, Ukodhiko stated the he was aware that he had stepped into a very big shoe left behind, adding that Ohor did a lot for the Isoko nation and indeed, the entire country when he was at the House of Representatives.

“He, (Ogor) left behind a very big shoe. Even in the House, they confirmed that when he was there he was very supportive to the House. And that they will also give me the support I need to step into the big shoe.

“It is a very big shoe but even though he is no more in the House but from time to time he gives us advice on how to navigate our way”, he said.
