A founding member of the Peoples Democratic Party in Delta State and two-time Executive Chairman of Ethiope East Local Government Area, Chief Mrs. Faith Majemite has described the PDP as a ‘mortuary’ party.
Majemite who stated this while addressing a mammoth crowd of APC supporters in a rally in Ozoro, yesterday, Mrs. Majemite also described the PDP as a useless party, adding that it is in the practice of selectively killing its members and thereafter makes merchandise of burial process by raising huge amount of money from where they give out peanuts to the children of the deceased.
It would be recalled that Majemite who is commonly known as ‘Oniemo’ of Agbon kingdom, recently dumped the PDP and defected to the All Progressives Party, APC, through a letter she personally signed and addressed to the PDP chairman of Ethiope East Local Government Area.
The former executive chairman of Ethiope East Local Government Area, who spoke both in English and Urhobo, further described the PDP as useless, adding that having realized that, she has decided to dump it and joined the APC.
“I’ve come to tell you today that the PDP is a useless party. It is ‘obituary’ party through which they manipulate the death of members.
“After the death of a member, the party would set up a burial committee and raise huge amount of money but thereafter, give just N500,000 to the children of the deceased.
“I had thought over this for a long time and I said that enough is enough. I decided to dump the PDP and joined the APC”, she said.

Mrs. Majemite addressing the supporters at Ozoro
Majemite called on Deltans to support and vote massively for all the candidates of the APC in February/March general elections, adding that members of the party will take over Government House, Asaba, thereafter.
“I encourage you to vote massively for the APC Presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, vote for Joel Onowhakpo Thomas (JOT), vote for the House of Reps candidate, Dr. Onoyona, vote for our incoming governor, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege and vote for the House of Assembly candidate.
“Thereafter, we shall be walking majestically to occupy the Government House, Asaba”, she concluded.
It would be recalled that Chief Mrs. Faith Majemite who is a very close ally of the number one PDP leader and former Governor of the State, Chief James Onanefe Ibori, dumped the party last week via a resignation letter where she listed several reasons she took the decision to leave.
Majemite had in the letter dated December 29, 2022, accused the PDP of “heinous leadership impunity and hostile plots against my thronging supporters”, adding that “I no longer find the values, ethic and ideology of the party’s founding fathers”, she said.
She added that “in order to serve my thronging supporters in my ward, Local Government, State, country and around the world, I have decided to end my affiliation with a party that has negative intentions for us.”
Our correspondent reports that Chief Mrs. Majemite had since picked the membership of the APC from her ward 6, in Kokori Inland.
PDP has been hit by a wave of defection in recent weeks, barely a month to the general election.
