Members and Stakeholders of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Sapele Local Government Area of Delta State have unanimously declared their commitment to work and provide unflinching support for the Senator representing Delta Central, Senator Ede Dafinone in the forthcoming 2027 general election.
This declaration was made known by members and Stakeholders of the party in the LG Area, led by the chairman of the executive, Hon. Francis Okpigbe when they paid a ‘Thank You’ visit to the Senator in his country home, Sapele on Saturday February 28, 2026.
In his speech at the occasion, Hon. Okpigbe affirmed that the visit and declaration were a show of unity, appreciation and solidarity for Dafinone’s leadership position, especially the stabilization role he played to ensure a peaceful Congress in the area recently.
“Come 2027, our senator will return to Abuja and remain there until 2031. That is what we stand for.
“In many other local governments and states in the country, there were rancour, disagreements, and struggles for control. But in Sapele, we did not experience that. The process was smooth, and we were able to produce a harmonised list that carried everyone along”, he stated.
Okpigbe further noted that the purpose of the visit was also to express appreciation for the overwhelming support which the Senator offered prior to, during and after the Congress just as he thanked him for the confidence he reposed on his new Exco.
He attributed the peaceful exercise to the Senator’s leadership style and his commitment to the consensus approach, adding that irrespective of his position, he worked with other leaders to ensure everybody was carried along.
“Despite being a high-ranking public officer, he did not create problems. Instead, he worked harmoniously with leaders in the local government to ensure that all stakeholders were accommodated. That is why we are here to say thank you.
“We are grateful for the confidence you have reposed in us. On behalf of everyone here, we say thank you. Come 2027, Sapele APC will stand solidly with you,” he declared.
He used the occasion to explain that the new Exco of the LGA headed by him was poised to promote unity and service, assuring that it was not for personal gains.
“These offices are not financial offices. They are positions of responsibility. We understand that our duty is to work and ensure that APC carries the day from A to Z in 2027,” he emphasized.
He however encouraged leaders and stakeholders to go all out grassroots mobilization, particularly with voter registration ongoing, pointing out that electoral victory depends on numbers
“If you are not registered, you cannot vote. The strength that guarantees victory lies in the number of registered voters we are able to mobilize. I call on every stakeholder to ensure that those who are 18 and above are registered”, he advised.
In his response, Senator Dafinone commended the executives for their unity and urged them to maintain cohesion within the party.
“Going forward, I do not want to hear anyone talking about factions. You are all one APC now. There is no need to dwell on yesterday,” the senator said, just as he urged regular consultations, and stronger ward-level engagement.
“You all must work together to deliver APC in all the units, Wards and Sapele local government, 2027 it must be 5/5″, he charged.
