House of Representatives member representing Ethiope Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, Hon. Mrs. Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu, has charged Urhobo to be more united and sincere to one another to facilitate a genuine advancement in growth and development.

Erhiatake made this call during the recently-held Urhobo Progress Union, America (UPUA) Convention themed “Embracing Change through Unity”, which took place in faraway Calgary, Albeta, USA.

Speaking at the occasion, the national lawmaker stressed on the need for genuine unity and sincerity amongst Urhobo, adding that the spirit of patriotism should rise above pretence and superficial relationship.

According to her, unity should not just be seen as a slogan in the UPU acronym, rather it should be seen and perceived as the foundation on which the progress and development of the Urhobo nation must be built.

“At the Urhobo Progress Union America (UPUA) Convention in Calgary, Alberta, I stressed the importance of unity not the kind that is pretentious or superficial, but true unity.

“If we must advance as a people, then we must come together with sincerity of purpose, setting aside divisions and personal interests for the greater good of the Urhobo Nation.

“Unity is not just a slogan; it is the foundation on which progress, development, and sustainability are built. Without genuine unity, the greatness of our nation cannot be fully realized”, she emphasized.

Hon. Erhiatake who acknowledged that the convention took place at no other better time than it did, advised Urhobo in the Diaspora, to realize that the responsibility is on them in championing and shaping the future of the people through advocacy, massive investment and mentorship of sons and daughters of Delta Central.

With collective effort, unity and sincerity, Hon. Erhiatake noted, Urhobo will become great again.

“To our brothers and sisters in the diaspora, the responsibility is immense. You have a vital role to play in shaping the future of the Urhobo Nation through advocacy, investment, mentorship, and by bridging the gap between home and abroad.

“Together, we can harness our collective strength to build a Urhobo Nation that truly reflects the greatness of its people”, she concluded.
