Warri North: Asekutu Lauds Gov Okowa, Others Over Donation of Treated Mosquito Nets

Executive Chairman of Warri North Local Government Council, Hon. Smart Yomi Asekutu, his wife, Mrs. Angela Asekutu and the entire people of the Area have expressed gratitude to the Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa and the donor NGO for the provision of treated mosquito nets for the prevention of malaria disease.

Asekutu who made this known in Koko, headquarters of Warri North Local Government Area, on the occasion of the flag off of the distribution of treated insecticide nets to the wards, thanked Gov. Okowa and the donor NGO, the Development Initiatives For Community Impact (DIFCI) for their effort at eradicating the scourge of malaria in the area.

“I want to sincerely appreciate the effort of my amiable Governor, His Excellency, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa for his commitment towards the health and welfare of the people of Warri North and Delta State in general.

“I also commend the donors
NGO, Development Initiatives For Community Impact, for their magnanimous contribution to the welfare and health of the people.

“Malaria has claimed the lives of thousands of persons over the years hence it must not be treated with levity and kind gloves”, the Council Boss said.

Speaking during the occasion, executive secretary Wárrí North LG Health Authority, Dr. Wilfred Temisan lauded the effort of the Council chairnan, assuring that the nets will be properly and evenly distributed to the people.

The coordinator of the donor partner, Dr. Mrs Racheal Misan Ruppee commended the Council chairman for the advocacy and mobilization of the people of Warri North for the collection of the treated nets.

The wife of the Council Chairman, Mrs Angela Asekutu was decorated as the Net Advocacy person for 2022.

Mrs Asekutu who was represented by the wife of the Vice Chairman Warri North LGA, Mrs Oludewa Mikie noted that if properly utilized, the treated nets will help to reduce the motality rates caused by malaria disease in the Council Area.

The highpoint of the event was the unveiling of the treated nets by the Council Chairman, Hon. Smart Asekutu.
